CHALLENGE : RUSTICA
This week the Challenge over at http://thatscraftychallenges.blogspot.dk/ is – RUSTICA-
A very exiting technique to try out,
with the help of different materials.
I`m sure many of you would love to
create a great rustic creation, and as always , you know,
The winner of the Challenge will receive a £20 voucher to spend in the online STORE . http://www.thatscrafty.co.uk/ . Wouldn`t it be wonderful !!!! Also my team members will show
amazing creations , which I`m sure you
would love to see.
But here is mine , I hope you like it .
Hugs from Dorthe, xx
Using one
of the fantastic white greyboards as
background , I first covered the white side of the greyboard, with gesso, and
when dry stenciled one of my favorite stencils : The big flower , using texture
paste .
When totally dry I started adding
colors and pastes to the whole surface, painting some of them onto both
stenciled areas , and the flat areas I left like that to add an image and other pieces .
I played with the Pastes from
Pentart , and the Decoart Media fluid
Acrylics, to try to achieve the look of Rusted areas, in different stages, all
over the surface, and in few places adhered sand from the beach, to show
texture in the rust ,--when dry it was painted too. You can easily see it above
in the photo.
I stamped the wonderful face onto
tissue paper, using the Archival Ink Coffee, and adhered her to the panel, with
Matte Medium . I then cut off a piece of Tyvek and draw an oval circle in the
middle of the paper, which I cut out. Using my heat gun I now tried to make a
frame for the face, attacked from tear
and rust, and when satisfied I painted it over also with the different pastes,
and paint .
The same treatment of paste and
paint , I gave the embellishments : cogs and clocks , a clips ,and two pieces
of old lace from my stasch.
It was adhered with the great Multi
Purpose Craft Adhesive.
The last thing to do was make a hole
with my Crop-A-Dile and put through a
lovely piece of brown Sari Silk.

That's such a different look for you, but you have risen to the challenge perfectly. Your grungy, rusted textures are amazing, and I love the hints of verdigris... and of course the vintage image at the heart of it is perfect.
